Situated between 3730-3740 North Clark St., Metro, smartbar, and Gman Tavern have solidified the northside block as one of Chicago's premier locations to experience live music, the arts, and more. Launched over 40 years ago in 1982, Metro/smartbar originated inside the landmark Swedish Auditorium Building to bring Chicago's arts communities together, which still continues today. The more recently acquired Gman Tavern was added to the roster in 2012, providing a friendly neighborhood hub with a focus on vinyl, local events, and a carefully selected rotating list of beers and spirits.
Assistant to Art Director Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Art Director on a number of projects for Metro, smartbar, and Gman Tavern including weekly calendars, localizing show flyers, updating menus, print and digital ads, brand collateral, video assets and flyer design
- Adhere to brand guidelines and complete projects according to deadlines
- Receive feedback from Art Director and make necessary changes
- General administrative tasks when necessary
- Maintain clean file structure and organization within internal drive
Requirements:
- Preference towards alumni from a college level Graphic Design program
- Experience working with advertising material, heavily preferred but not required
- Knowledge of layout, typography, composition, color, current design trends, and other graphic design fundamentals
- Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects
- Knows how to navigate Google Suites: Drive, Sheets, Calendar, Slack
- Strong knowledge of requirements for print vs. digital
- Experience with motion graphics
- Compelling portfolio of graphic design work
- Strong communication skills with an eye for detail
- Organized and accountable with ability to handle multiple projects within tight time constraints
- Professional demeanor in scheduled meetings and email correspondence
- Curious attitude and innate problem solver
- Passion for live music and design
