Program Support Assistant (Student Trainee), GS-399-4

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) manages the exploration and development of the nation's offshore resources. It seeks to appropriately balance economic development, energy independence, and environmental protection through oil and gas leases, renewable energy development and environmental reviews and studies. At the full performance level GS-4 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist with tracking policy developments across the department, ensuring consistency, monitoring implementation, and updating the BOEM-ODICR Director.
    Attend briefings, stakeholder meetings, and similar events with, or on behalf of senior BOEM-ODICR staff.
  • Assist with conducting research, and other written work products as assigned, research and provide policy and/or program recommendations.
  • Supports senior BOEM-ODICR staff in developing policy, guidance, procedures, memoranda, and other communications that advance BOEM-ODICR's efforts to advance civil rights and diversity and inclusion.
  • Compile information to assist BOEM-ODICR staff with drafting policy, guidance, procedures, memoranda and other communications that enhance the Department's efforts to advance civil rights and diversity and inclusion.
  • Strengthen coordination and cooperation within BOEM and with external groups to identify partnership and other opportunities diversity, inclusion, and civil rights.
    Perform a variety of administrative support duties, which may be sensitive in nature for the BOEM-ODICR Director and other senior leadership and staff.
  • Support BOEM-ODICR case and project tracking. As part of this duty, the incumbent will program-related documents and learn about the multiple priorities of BOEM-ODICR.


This internship opportunity is within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Civil Rights (ODICR). This position is being filled with a remote duty location determined upon selection.

Salary Range Information:
GS-4: $30,280 - $39,361 (Remote Location) *This is the base GS salary rate. Pay will be set according to selectee's geographic area.
First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position you must meet the (1) Pathways Internship Eligibility Requirements and (2) the Minimum Qualifications Requirements defined below.

To be eligible for this internship all of the following requirements must be met:
1. You must be at least 16 years of age
2. You must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a degree or certificate program at a qualifying educational institution on a full or part-time basis.
3. If enrolled, you must be in good academic standing (At least a 2.0 GPA)
4. You must provide a transcript (official or unofficial) and proof of enrollment/acceptance.

NOTE: You must continue to meet these eligibility requirements throughout the duration of your appointment under the Pathways Internship Program.

GS-04 Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for the GS-04 grade level you must have completed 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
