Position Overview:
The Social Media & Marketing Intern serves as the primary support for Home of New Vision’s (HNV) digital communications, marketing initiatives, and public relations efforts. This role is responsible for managing social media platforms, drafting press releases, promoting organizational events and partnerships, and enhancing community engagement through strategic digital outreach.
The Social Media & Marketing Intern will work closely with HNV leadership to ensure consistent branding, mission alignment, and compliance with nonprofit communication standards. This is a fully virtual position and requires a semester or agreed-upon term commitment.
Key Responsibilities:
Social Media Management and Digital Engagement:
- Create, schedule, and publish content across HNV’s social media platforms.
- Maintain consistent branding aligned with HNV’s mission and organizational values.
- Monitor engagement, respond professionally to comments and inquiries, and escalate concerns when necessary.
- Develop content calendars to support events, fundraisers, and program initiatives.
Press Releases and Media Relations:
- Draft official press releases for major events, partnerships, fundraising initiatives, and organizational milestones.
- Format press releases using professional standards (AP style preferred).
- Coordinate review and approval of press communications with HNV leadership prior to distribution.
- Maintain a digital media contact list for local and relevant outlets.
- Distribute approved press releases and monitor media responses.
- Archive public communications in accordance with HNV document retention and transparency policies.
Marketing and Event Promotion:
- Promote HNV events, programs, and partnerships through digital campaigns.
- Design digital promotional materials using Canva or similar platforms.
- Assist in developing strategies to increase event attendance and community participation.
- Support partnership marketing efforts by highlighting collaborations and community resources.
Reporting and Analytics:
- Track engagement metrics across social platforms.
- Monitor digital growth trends and campaign performance.
- Provide regular reports to HNV leadership regarding marketing performance and recommendations.
Administrative and Additional Duties:
- Collaborate with HNV leadership and program teams to strengthen digital outreach strategies.
- Assist with website updates and public-facing communications as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of HNV.
Qualifications:
- Strong written communication and editing skills.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital engagement tools.
- Basic graphic design skills (Canva preferred).
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
- Previous experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or nonprofit engagement is preferred but not required.
Work Environment:
This is a fully virtual position. All responsibilities will be performed remotely with regular communication through email, video meetings, and shared digital platforms.
This is an unpaid internship position within Home of New Vision (HNV). Responsibilities may be adjusted as needed to best serve the organization’s mission.
