The Columbia Pike Partnership mission is to foster a vibrant, safe, connected, and diverse Columbia Pike community through partnerships, business and resident support and advocacy, placemaking, programming, and events. CPP was founded in 1986 and represents a 3.1-mile corridor of Columbia Pike through 10 Civic Associations in Arlington County, VA.

Role Summary

The Farmers Market Intern will support CPP’s weekly Columbia Pike Farmers Market through both on-site operations and digital promotion. This role is ideal for a student interested in community engagement, event operations, and local food systems. The intern will help manage social media for the market while assisting with the weekly setup and coordination of the market.

Key Responsibilities

● Assist with market setup and coordination during the weekly Columbia Pike Farmers Market

● Support vendor check-in and help ensure smooth operations during market hours

● Capture photos and short video clips of vendors, products, and market activities

● Create and schedule social media posts promoting vendors and upcoming markets

● Assist with organizing and labeling photos and content in Google Drive

● Help promote the market through simple graphics or flyers using Canva

● Support small operational tasks that help the market run smoothly each week

Skills & Qualifications

● Interest in community events, farmers markets, or local food systems

● Familiarity with social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook

● Basic photography or content creation skills a plus

● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

● Friendly and comfortable interacting with vendors and community members

● Ability to work independently and take initiative

Schedule & Commitment

● Approximately 5 hours per week

● Must attend Sunday markets during the season

● Market season runs May through August

● Intern may miss up to 3 market dates with advance notice

Compensation

Paid internship: $15–$20 per hour depending on experience
