Accounting Associate
About the Role
Mudd Advertising is seeking a highly detail-oriented Accounting Associate to support daily accounting operations, accounts payable, and month-end close processes across multiple company entities.
The ideal candidate is organized, self-driven, and confident working with modern financial systems such as NetSuite and other oracle products.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable (Primary Focus – ~70%)
- Process vendor invoices, bills, and credits in NetSuite with accurate coding and supporting documentation.
- Validate invoice details, terms, and approvals before posting.
- Work with internal departments to resolve missing documentation, incorrect coding, or billing discrepancies.
- Maintain vendor records and ensure proper GL and departmental alignment.
General Accounting (Secondary Focus – ~30%)
- Prepare and post journal entries (JE) for accruals, reclasses, and adjustments.
- Assist with month-end close tasks.
- Support account reconciliations
- Participate in building and maintaining monthly financial support schedules.
Financial Operations & Systems
- Work daily in NetSuite for transaction entry, research, and reporting.
- Use Salesforce (light use) to verify client/project data when needed for billing or cost allocations.
- Use Excel extensively for reconciliations, lookups, pivot tables, and ad-hoc reporting.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, process standardization, and cleaner workflow documentation.
Month-End Close & Reporting Support
- Contribute to month-end close by meeting deadlines, completing assigned sections, and maintaining accuracy across entities.
- Support Senior Accountant and CFO with data pulls, schedule updates, and reconciliations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent relevant experience)
- 2–3 years of experience in accounting operations (AP, JE, reconciliations, or similar).
- Strong proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, filtering, data integrity checks).
- Experience with NetSuite strongly preferred; ERP experience required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and follow structured accounting processes.
