Position Overview
Launch your technical career in the energy industry! As an Odorant Technician, you’ll work both at our Philippi facility and travel across the U.S. supporting natural gas odorization systems.
This role offers the perfect mix of hands-on fieldwork, travel, and technical problem-solving, with all the necessary training provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, remove, and maintain odorization systems (odorant tanks, lines, fittings, sensors, etc.)
- Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on odorization equipment
- Safely transfer odorants and assist with odorant spill remediation
- Support natural gas pipeline pickling projects
- Complete detailed documentation (work orders, DOT logs, reports)
- Travel to client sites across the U.S. (drive or fly); up to 50% travel
- Maintain safety compliance with DOT and OSHA standards
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools
- Ability to interpret basic diagrams and schematics (tanks, pumps, valves, etc.)
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors and on your feet
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Computer/tablet proficiency for digital reporting
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Must be 23 years of age (insurance requirement)
Preferred:
- Experience or coursework in trades (pipefitting, welding, electrical)
- Exposure to the oil & gas or energy industry
