United Way of Northern Utah - Welcome Baby

The One Utah Service Fellowship is an AmeriCorps program that provides opportunities for young adults 17-30 to participate in sustainable and high-impact service, addressing the critical priorities and needs in Utah while supporting debt-free pathways to higher education. 

United Way of Northern Utah unites people and organizations to build a healthy, stable, and well-educated community where individuals, families, and neighborhoods thrive. 

The Welcome Baby Fellow will help support UWNU’s early childhood programs in both day to day tasks and program implementation as well as supporting projects that will assist in sustaining and expanding the programs and initiatives. A major focus of this position will be to assist with volunteer training and management, increasing presence at community events to expand the program’s reach, and supporting the processing of in-kind donations for the programs. The fellow may also help with projects to build business plans to scale the program and develop a plan for having a sustainable volunteer program. 

 

Job Summary: 

- This position is 14 hours per week for 12 months 

- Minimum of 675 hours 

- Anticipated schedule is Tuesday 9-3, Wednesday and Thursday 9-1 or 10-2, weekends as needed 

- This position will require some driving throughout the service area and will require the candidate to have access to a reliable vehicle 

 

Responsibilities may include: 

- Provide training to new home visitors with in-home shadow visits to model best practices and offer hands-on guidance 

- Developing or expanding volunteer program 

- Recruiting, managing, and or training volunteers 

- Distributing and conducting follow up surveys with individuals who have received services - Community Engagement Support 

- Ensuring documentation of each individual interaction is thorough and complete in the database 

- Developing or conducting program outreach 

- Assisting with focus groups and interviews

 

Eligibility Requirements: 

- Be 17 years of age or older 

- Have a high school diploma or GED 

- Pass State & Federal background checks 

- Be a U.S. Citizen, National, or Legal Permanent Resident

 

Member benefits and details: 

- Fellow will receive a living allowance twice monthly of $293.47 

- Upon completion, successful fellows earn an education award of $2,817.14, which can be used for education costs up to cost of attendance or for eligible student loan repayment 

- Fellows may qualify for loan deferment and interest forbearance on federally- guaranteed student loans, with potential interest repayment while serving 

- Access to Member Assistance Program: Includes free telephonic mental health counseling, professional assessments, webinars, and exclusive discounts
