Orchestra Manager Intern
Job Title: Orchestra Manager (paid internship)
Compensation: $10 – $15 per hour, commensurate with education and experience
Duration: Immediate start through December 5, 2025 or July 1, 2026 (Fall and / or Spring semester).
- $10/hour – Students pursuing a music undergraduate degree (prior experience preferred)
- Up to $15/hour – Students pursuing a music graduate degree plus prior experience
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Orchestra Manager Intern to oversee all aspects of orchestra operations for our festival and music academy. This role is ideal for instrumentalists with previous orchestral experience and for students seeking a degree in music, who excel in organization, communication, and recruitment. The Orchestra Manager Intern will work closely with the Music and Artistic Directors to ensure smooth preparation and performance of all orchestral works.
Key Responsibilities

Orchestra Administration & Recruitment
- Research instrumental faculty and maintain updated contact database
- Draft and send outreach emails to instrumental faculty nationwide
- Recruit and secure players to ensure all orchestra positions are filled
- Prepare detailed orchestra rosters for each festival work

Performance Preparation
- Research orchestrations for all programmed works and communicate details to players
- Prepare worksheets outlining large instrument rental needs, cartage, and logistical requirements
- Coordinate with orchestra members regarding concert attire, printed music, and rehearsal details

Promotion & Engagement
- Create short video clips and posts for social media to recruit instrumentalists
- Research and recommend new avenues to promote the music academy to instrumentalists

Communication & Coordination
- Serve as primary point of contact for orchestra musicians regarding scheduling, logistics, and repertoire
- Maintain consistent communication with orchestra managers and faculty to ensure smooth operations
Qualifications
- Actively enrolled in undergraduate or graduate music degree program (graduate degree preferred)
- Previous music administration experience, with emphasis on orchestral operations (preferred)
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and digital communication tools
- Comfort with social media outreach and recruitment campaigns
