Media Relations Account Manager

Live Wire Strategic Communications, LLC is an award-winning public relations firm with a 25-year track record of delivering complex, high-impact earned media campaigns for clients across industries. Our reputation for exceptional client service is unmatched — and we’re looking for an Account Manager with a proven track record in media relations to help us raise the bar even higher.

If you have experience pitching stories, building reporter relationships, securing press coverage, and shaping narratives for public audiences — this is the role for you. This is not a sales, advertising, or digital marketing position. We are looking for a communications professional who thrives in the fast-moving world of newsrooms, reporters, and proactive storytelling.

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as the primary client contact, providing strategic counsel and managing expectations.
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term PR plans focused on securing earned media coverage.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers.
  • Pitch stories that resonate and deliver measurable results for clients.
  • Write and edit press materials, op-eds, talking points, and social media posts.
  • Identify and leverage media opportunities to enhance client visibility and thought leadership.
  • Support clients with crisis communications and rapid-response strategies.
  • Coordinate messaging across client stakeholders for internal and external alignment.
  • Monitor and measure media coverage and campaign performance, providing actionable insights.
  • Lead client meetings, deliver impactful presentations, and generate reporting documents.

What we’re looking for:

  • 3+ years of dedicated media relations experience at the global, national, or regional level.
  • Demonstrated success securing earned media placements in top-tier, trade, and regional outlets.
  • Strong understanding of how newsrooms work and how to make a story newsworthy.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and public speaking skills.
  • Strong account and project management skills with sharp attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead under pressure, juggle multiple priorities, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Cision/MuckRack, Sprout Social (or similar).

Why you’ll love working here:

We’re a small, tight-knit team that values collaboration, communication, and celebrating wins — big and small. Our culture is supportive, energetic, and engaging. The salary range for this role is $65,000-80,000 based on experience brought to the position, with room for rapid advancement. We offer medical/dental/vision, paid holidays, 401(k) with profit sharing, summer Fridays, and team-building outings.
