Registered Professional Nurse (Per Diem)

The State of Connecticut, Department of Children and Families' (DCF) is seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our team as Registered Professional Nurses (Per Diem) at the Albert J. Solnit Children Center, North Campus in East Windsor.

The RN Nurse Per Diem positions may also include unit charge responsibilities. Hours of work include First, Second, Third Shifts, Weekends, and Holidays.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • FACILITY: Albert J. Solnit Children's Center North Campus 
  • LOCATION: East Windsor, CT
  • POSSIBLE SHIFT SCHEDULES
    • First Shift: 
      • 7:00am-3:30pm 
    • Second Shift: 
      • 3:00pm-11:30pm
    • Third Shift:
      • 11:00pm-7:30am

*A minimum number of shifts per pay period as well as identified holidays are required to meet scheduling expectations, including:

  • 12 eight-hour shifts within a three (3) month period, including six (6) of these shifts as weekend shifts. At least two (2) eight-hour shifts per pay period within the three (3) month period.
  • One (1) winter holiday: Christmas Eve: second shift; Christmas day: first shift; New Year's Eve: second shift; New Year's Day first shift
  • One (1) summer holiday: Memorial Day: first, second, third shift; July 4th: first, second, third shift; Labor Day: first, second, third shift

THE ROLE

  • Independently implements the nursing process with individuals including carrying out physicians' orders regarding diet, medication and treatment;
  • Performs assessments;
  • Changes dressings;
  • Monitors and ensures quality care through observation and evaluation;
  • Reports on physiological and mental health status of individuals;
  • Documents nursing interventions on medical records;
  • Related duties as required.

Located in East Windsor, CT, the Albert J. Solnit Children's Center- North Campus serves as a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility, providing treatment to adolescent males between the ages of 13 and 17 with complex psychiatric needs. The program is designed to be the bridge from hospital to home and community or as a diversionary placement to avoid the need for a hospital stay.

The facility provides an educational program, work experience opportunities and rehabilitation including therapeutic recreation and occupational and music therapies. The Solnit Children's Center utilizes a strength based; family centered relational approach based on youth-adult partnership. The program model has been designed to focus treatment strategies which are trauma informed and gender responsive.
